Schools to reopen June 20

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has postponed the reopening of schools for the 2025 academic session to June 20, instead of the previously scheduled June 18, due to high temperatures and the transition into the monsoon season.
The decision was conveyed in a letter from the School and Mass Education department to all District Education Officers (DEOs).
To ensure student welfare, all schools have been directed to serve mid-day meals (MDM) from the first day of reopening for children aged 6 to 14. The government is also considering implementing morning school timings (6:30 am to 10:30 am) in some districts, though no official confirmation has been issued yet.
Despite the waning of the Covid-19 threat, schools are advised to maintain strict hygiene, ensure clean drinking water, and continue health monitoring to provide a safe learning environment.
