The Middle East is once again at the centre of global concern as tensions between Iran and Israel have erupted into direct conflict, marking their most intense military exchange in decades.

Israel, in turn, views Iran’s nuclear ambitions as an existential threat.
Tensions have escalated repeatedly over the years, from covert assassinations and cyberattacks to shadow wars in Syria and Lebanon.
However, the situation turned into open warfare in June 2025 after Israel launched Operation Rising Lion, a sweeping military assault on Iranian nuclear and military sites. Iran responded with waves of drone and missile attacks, triggering fears of a full-scale regional war.
The conflict has drawn global attention due to its potential to destabilize the Middle East, disrupt global oil supplies, and pull in major powers like the U.S. and China. With both sides showing no signs of backing down, the world is bracing for further escalation.
