MI-6 new head: Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced that for the first time in the history of Britain’s intelligence agency MI-6, a woman, will head it. This is the first time in the 116-year history of the foreign intelligence service that MI-6 has got a female chief.
Who is Blaise Metreveli?
47-year-old Blaise Metreveli, who joined the Secret Intelligence Service in 1999, will replace Sir Richard Moore at the end of this year. She will be the 18th chief of MI-6. Metreveli has been promoted from her current position of Director General or ‘Q’, responsible for technology and innovation at MI-6. She previously held a director-level role at Britain’s domestic security service MI-5.
