Bihar: BSP chief Mayawati urges cadres to expose BJP's claims on caste census

Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati has called on her party workers to make people aware about the ‘correct facts’ regarding the census and the BJP’s claims on its many achievements through constant discussions.
Taking to X today, Mayawati posted that the BJP has been boasting about its 11 years at the helm in the Centre, but people will respond to what the ground reality of the claims is in regard to ending poverty, unemployment, pain and suffering.
Though she did write that the work of the party organisation is being constantly reviewed on the ground through small meetings – many of her supporters responded by drawing her attention to the many ‘inactive’ party units throughout the state.
Mayawati also wrote that the last meeting regarding the party organisation took place in Purvanchal where the question of increasing the support base was discussed, there have been questions swirling about why her nephew, Akash Anand, has been absent from these meetings. One user went as far as commenting that if Anand is not participating in these meetings, there is no reason the party should carry his ‘burden’.
Mayawati also wrote about her party preparing a strategy for the Bihar assembly elections so that ‘better results can be achieved’. The Purvanchal meeting gains significance against that backdrop as it is an area contiguous with Bihar.
Anil Kumar, the party’s in-charge for Bihar, had recently declared that the new government in Bihar will not be formed without support from the BSP. This, when the party does not have a single seat in the current assembly. Yet the party will be fighting alone on all the 243 assembly seats. The party’s best performance in the state was in 2000 when five of its candidates won.
One of the reasons why the BSP has not done well in Bihar is that the party fielded candidates who came from other parties over denial of tickets, and thus sought refuge with the BSP. The party’s sole winner in 2020 went on to become a minister in the JDU government.
