Coimbatore Power Cut On June 18: Multiple Areas To Face Day-Long Outage For Maintenance
Several neighbourhoods across Coimbatore district will face power outages on Wednesday, June 18, as part of scheduled maintenance work by the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (Tangedco). The maintenance aims to enhance infrastructure reliability ahead of the monsoon, involving line repairs, transformer checks, and vegetation clearance near overhead lines.
Coimbatore Power Cut: Areas Affected & Timings
According to the official website, Coimbatore is set to face power cut in areas including Villankurichi and Kalapatti on June 18.
9:00 AM – 5:00 PM: Villankurichi 33KV SS - Thanneerpandal, Lakshmi Nagar, Murugan Nagar, Cheranma Nagar, Kumudham Nagar, Jeeva Nagar, Sengaliappan Nagar
Kalapatti 110KV SS: Kalapatti, Cheranma Nagar, Nehru Nagar, SITRA, Valliampalayam, K.R. Palayam, Villankurichi, Thanneerpandal, Peelamedu Industrial Estate, Sharp Nagar, Maheswari Nagar
9:00 AM – 4:00 PM: Keeranatham 110/33-22KV SS: Keeranatham, Varathaiyangarpalayam, Idigarai, Athipalayam, parts of Saravanampatty, Viswasapuram, Revenue Nagar, Karantumedu, parts of Villankurichi, Sivanandhapuram, Sathy Road, Sankara Veethi, Ravi Theatre area

Podanur 110/22KV SS: Eachanari, N.J. Puram, K.V. Palayam, Podanur, Vellalore
On June 17, 2025, parts of Coimbatore including Kuppepalayam, Onnipalayam, CK Palayam, Kallipalayam, Kattampatty, Sengalipalayam, Karichipalayam, Vadugapalayam, Kathavukarai, Mondikaliputhur, Moonukattiyur and Rangappagoundanputhur experienced power cuts. The shutdown was due to maintenance works.
Advisory For Residents
Store enough water ahead of the outage. Charge mobile phones and power backups in advance. Complete essential electrical tasks early. Keep power banks and drinking water ready, especially in view of the ongoing heat.
Tangedco has requested public cooperation to ensure the smooth execution of maintenance operations.
Coimbatore Weather Update
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall in the Ghat areas of Coimbatore district on Tuesday. For Wednesday, similar heavy rain is expected at isolated locations in the Nilgiris district.
On Monday, Valparai PTO and Chinnakalar in Coimbatore district recorded 9 cm of rainfall each. Several other parts of the district also experienced showers.
