Father-Son Duo Cracks UP Police Exam After 2.5 Years Of Preparation, Join Force Together (Video)

In an inspirational tale of determination and discipline, a retired Army man and his 21-year-old son from Hapur district have both joined Uttar Pradesh Police. Their rare achievement feat was announced on Sunday, when they got their appointment letters from Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow.

Their village, Udaypur Udayrampur Nangla in Dhaulana, Uttar Pradesh is celebrating their achievement, with locals terming it a day of great pride for the community as a whole.

From Army to Police Force

Yashpal Nagar, 40, had joined the Indian Army in 2003 and was serving for 16 years, subsequently opting for voluntary retirement in 2019. Even after retirement, he still served with the Army Ordnance Corps in Delhi.

Inspired by the spirit of public service, Yashpal and his 21-year-old son Shekhar Nagar started preparing together for police recruitment tests two-and-a-half years ago. They would study together and try their hand at different competitive exams, such as the Combined Defence Services (CDS) and UP Sub-Inspector recruitment examinations.

Success Through Perseverance

The two eventually realised their efforts when they qualified for the UP Police Civil Police Direct Recruitment Exam. Yashpal has been posted in Shahjahanpur, while Shekhar will start his training in Bareilly.

A Story That Inspires

Hapur Superintendent of Police Kunwar Gyananjay Singh appreciated the father-son duo, describing their path as "inspirational" and a "symbol of dedication and determination." He urged other aspirants to take motivation from their success.

Part of a Record-Breaking Recruitment Drive

Their selection is part of a historic recruitment drive by the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board, in which more than 60,000 appointment letters have been handed out in a ceremony in Lucknow. There are 48,196 men and 12,048 women among them, marking the state's largest ever direct recruitment of constables.
