Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Ward Reshuffle Begins Ahead Of Local Body Polls, Collector Issues Strict Deadline
The local bodies elections are heading near and the programme for establishing the wards (prabhag) structures for municipal corporation and municipal councils have been received. District collector Dilip Swami has directed the heads of the concerned authorities to prepare the prabhag structures in the stipulated time frame in a meeting held at district collectorate on Tuesday. The municipal corporation administration department officer Rishikesh Bhalerao, Kannad Municipal Council administrator Santosh Gorad, Vaijapur Council CEO Dr Sangeeta Nandurkar, Gangapur CEO Santosh Agale, Khuldabad CEO Sameer Shaikh and other officers were present.
The Vaijapur, Sillod, Kannad and Paithan municipal councils in the district come in ‘B’ category while Gangapur and Khuldabad in ‘C’ category and Phulambri and Soygaon in ‘D’ category. The number of members of all the councils have been fixed as per the 2011 population census. Accordingly, the number of members are Vaijapur – 25, Sillod – 28, Kannad – 25, Paithan – 25, Gangapur – 20, Khuldabad – 20, Phulambri – 17. Similarly, the number of prabhags will be Vaijapur – 12, Sillod – 14, Kannad – 12, Paithan – 12, Gangapur – 10, Khuldabad – 10, Phulambri – 08.
The programme of structuring prabhags started on June 17 and it will continue till July 3. During this period, the work of structuring the prabhags will be done and the draft will be sent to the divisional commissioner for final sanction on July 4. The sanctioned plan will be published and suggestions and objections on it will be sought between July 22 and 31 and the final plan will be sent to the election commission between July 1 and 7. The final prabhag structures sanctioned by the commission will be published between August 22 and September 1.
Swami directed the officers to follow the time frame for prabhag structure given by the election commission scrupulously.
