Indian Women Star Batter Surges Back To Summit Of ICC ODI Rankings

India Women's star opener Smriti Mandhana has stormed back to the summit of the ICC Women’s ODI batting rankings, ending a six‑year wait and pushing ahead with a superb set of recent performances.

Mandhana surged back to the top position, now boasting 727 ranking points, after consistently high-scoring innings. Her standout moment came during the tri‑series final in Colombo against Sri Lanka and South Africa, where she notched her 11th ODI century, helping to swing momentum firmly in India’s favor.

South Africa’s captain Laura Wolvaardt, who had led the rankings for over six months, slipped to joint-second — alongside England’s Nat Sciver-Brunt, both at 719 points—following modest scores of 27 and 28 in their ODI series against the West Indies.

Several other players surged up the charts as well. Tazmin Brits surged five places to 27th thanks to her half-century. Suné Luus moved up seven spots in both batting and bowling rankings after her 76 in the Barbados match.

West Indies’ Qiana Joseph climbed 12 ranks to a joint 67th position with her 60-run innings. On the bowling front, AFY Fletcher (West Indies) and Nonkululeko Mlaba (South Africa) were among the biggest movers following impactful four-wicket performances.

A Chance For Wolvaardt To Improve Her Ratings

Laura Wolvaardt can improve her ranking with a statement performance tonight, as South Africa Women are playing the series decider against West Indies Women in the 3rd ODI.

The series is currently levelled 1-1, and if Laura manages to score a ton, it'll add much-needed points to her tally, before the list gets updated next month.

The fixture is taking place at the Three Ws Oval in Bridgetown, and the match starts at 07:30 PM IST. Both sides are scheduled to play a 3-match series at the same venue after the conclusion of ODI series.
