Training camp on TB, leprosy for medical officers

The Health and Family Welfare Department, Chamba, organised a one-day training camp for medical officers on Tuesday. The camp, held under the chairmanship of Chief Medical Officer Dr Bipen Thakur, focused on capacity-building related to the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP) and the National Leprosy Eradication Programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Thakur said the training covered essential updates and protocols related to both TB and leprosy control initiatives. Key topics included the Drug Sensitive TB Algorithm and Treatment, Drug-Resistant TB Algorithm and New Regimens, as well as the Prevention and Management of Adverse Reactions. The session also covered updated policies on TB testing, record keeping and reporting, along with supervision, monitoring and evaluation through the Ni-Kshay portal.

District TB Officer Dr Harit Puri emphasised the importance of early identification of TB patients at the grassroots level. He trained the medical officers on the latest NTEP guidelines, TB Preventive Treatment (TPT), the Ni-Kshay Poshan Yojana for nutritional support to TB patients and the Mukhyamantri Kshay Rog Nivaran Yojana (MMKRNY).

The training aimed to strengthen the role of medical officers in effective implementation of national health programmes.
