AAP candidate releases ‘vision document for better Ludhiana’
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate for the Ludhiana West bypoll Sanjeev Arora has released a `vision document for a better Ludhiana’.
Arora, who is a businessman, philanthropist and a first-time candidate, while describing his ‘VISION’ stated that `V’ stands for `vital infrastructure and public services’. Top priority, as identified by 39 per cent of the residents, is to fix potholes and finish reconstructing damaged roads within 100 days, solve waterlogging-related issues, ensure 24×7 clean drinking water supply in all areas, improve public transport system for reducing traffic congestion and installing new transformers and upgrading the transmission system for better electricity supply.
He said `I’ stands for `inclusive safety measures’. The second most voted concern for 35 per cent of the residents was to instal CCTV cameras and streetlights at required locations and form citizen-policing teams with volunteers from communities.
Arora said `S’ for `superior healthcare services’. Backed by his record in healthcare philanthropy and top priority for 17 per cent of the residents is to expand mohalla clinics services, free breast cancer screenings via Krishna Pran Cancer Trust and regular mobile health camps.
The AAP leader said `I’ stands for ‘innovative education and job growth’. As many as 20 per cent residents raised these concerns demanding to improve and add skill training facilities, collaborate with Ludhiana MSMEs for guaranteed placement partnerships, increase smart classrooms, teacher upskilling and career readiness in government schools and establishing a help desk for small businesses.
He added `O’ stands for `optimised environment’. Reflecting 26 per cent residents’ demand for greener streets and better waste management, restoration of the Buddha Dariya, mechanised cleaning and weekly audit of sanitation staff, planting thousands of trees on main roads and parks, launching city’s first stray dog sanctuary with vaccination and sterilisation and cleaning of industrial corridors with monitored air and water discharge.
Finally, `N’ stands for `nurturing community engagement’. A many as 67 per cent of the residents are willing to join task forces to contribute to change and launch resident councils in every ward for monthly issue resolution.
Arora said: “This is people’s vision. Written by people. Delivered by us. It isn’t a politician’s wish list. It’s people’s voice, turned into action.”
Ludhiana
