Ahmedabad Plane Crash: Journalist & YouTuber Shubhankar Mishra Denounces False Reports Claiming His 'Death' In Air India Mishap That Killed 270
Mumbai: Journalist and YouTuber Shubhankar Mishra has strongly refuted false claims circulating on social media and some online platforms alleging that he was among the victims of the tragic Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad on June 12. The crash of Flight AI171, a London-bound Boeing 787 Dreamliner, claimed 270 lives, including passengers, crew and individuals on the ground.
Taking to his official social media account, Mishra publicly condemned the misinformation by sharing a screenshot of one such misleading post. The image, which featured his photograph alongside the message, "Shubhankar Mishra lost his life in the Ahmedabad plane crash tragedy. May God rest his soul in peace," was labelled as fake news and had been fact-checked by the news agency PTI.
In a firm response on X, Mishra wrote, “Those spreading such false rumours are not only behaving irresponsibly but also are cruelly insulting the memory and sacrifice of the innocent people who lost their lives in the Ahmedabad accident.” His post drew strong reactions from his followers, many of whom called for accountability over the spread of such misleading information.
As of now, it remains unclear which social media page or individual initially circulated the false report. No legal action has been announced by Mishra regarding the matter. However, his public denouncement has served as a cautionary reminder about the speed at which fake news can spread during times of tragedy.
