In the 1990s, there was no Spider-Man or Krrish, but there was one superhero who was everyone’s favourite – Shaktimaan. Children would sit in front of their TVs every morning to watch the show, which used to be telecast on Doordarshan. Not only was Mukesh Khanna loved for his role as Shaktimaan, but the other characters in the show were also well-received by the audience.

Vaishnavi Mahant, now Vaishanvi Macdonald’s character in Shaktimaan as Geeta got high acclaim and was considered her breakthrough role. When her journalist character Geeta Vishwas was written out of the series, fan protests prompted the producers to bring her back.
After being a part of popular series Shaktimaan, she went on to play leading roles in several Telugu films. In 2007, Vaishnavi played the role of Sameera’s mother Sapna in Chhoona Hai Aasmaan. In 2009, the actress played Bhaskar’s mother in the Sony Entertainment Television serial Bhaskar Bharti.
Currently, Vaishnavi Mahant is seen in a TV show Parineeti, where she plays Parminder “Pammi” Bajwa, Rajveer’s wife
