Raja Raghuvanshi Murder Case: Meghalaya Cops Quizzes Sonam’s Family; Search Home, Office And Godown

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A three member SIT team of Meghalaya Police reached the maternal home of accused Sonam Raghuvanshi in Govind Nagar, Banganga on Wednesday, intensifying its probe in Raja Raghuvanshi's murder case.

The team consisting of DSP and two sub-inspectors level officers questioned her mother and brother as part of the investigation. The Meghalaya police team was at Sonam's house for around two hours. A day earlier, the same team had visited Raja’s family home in the city.

Immediately after the police team left the place, her brother Govind boarded a car and left the spot.

Talking to reporters, Govind said the Meghalaya police made "general inquiries" from him and his family members about Sonam's behaviour.

On the demand of Raja Raghuvanshi's family of narco test, Govind said he has "not committed any sin", but he is ready to undergo all kinds of investigation if anyone has doubts.

SIT checks suitcases and Sonam’s room

The SIT team checked suitcases belonging to the family of Sonam Raghuvanshi and also checked her room. They stayed here for a couple of hours, questioning her father, mother, brother and sister-in-law.

SIT reaches Sonam’s office and godown

The SIT after visiting Sonam’s residence, reached her office in Vijay Nagar area and her godown. They questioned the staff here and checked documents.

Sonam’s brother Govind told the media, “I went along to the godown and office, where the staff were questioned. Beyond that, I don’t know anything. I was only there to show the place where Raj used to work. I was standing outside while the questioning was taking place inside”

Police traced Sonam through WhatsApp messages

Police managed to trace Sonam Raghuvanshi through her Whatsapp messages. She activated one of her three missing phones and turned on data to check Whatsapp messages, assisting police to trace her location.

The couple had four mobile phones. After killing her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi with the help of three assailants, Sonam broke his phone and disposed it. The other three mobile phones which belonged to Sonam are still missing, and the police are searching for them.

However, when she reached Indore, she activated her SIM card on one of her three missing phones and turned on the data to check WhatsApp messages, allowing the police to trace her, NDTV reported.

Raj’s grandmother dies of heart attack

The grandmother of Raj Kushwaha, Ramlali died after suffering a heart attack due to the trauma of her grandson's arrest in her native place in Fatehpur district of Uttar Pradesh.

Family members disclosed that the distraught woman had defended Raj following his arrest, maintaining his innocence and claiming he had been framed. She was in shock after learning about Raj’s arrest in the Raja murder case and she claimed that Raj is innocent.
