Army team embarks on eco-friendly expedition

A team from Battalion 26, Division Jammu Satwari, has launched a unique expedition across the Bhubhu Jot trek, aiming to connect with youth and promote environmental stewardship. Led by Captain Udbhav Rao, the mission traverses the scenic route linking Chuhar Valley in Mandi to Lug Valley in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh.

The team, comprising one officer, one Junior Commissioned Officer, and eight soldiers, began their journey from Barot in Mandi. They crossed the challenging Sari Pass on June 16 and plan to reach Kais Dhar in Kullu by June 25. The trek includes a passage over the 9,280-foot-high Bhubhu Pass and cuts through dense forests and rocky landscapes.

Supporting the initiative is a five-member logistics team headed by Naib Subedar Ram Bhawan. They commenced from Jammu on June 14, reaching Pandoh on June 15 and Lohardi on June 16, before setting up camp at Sauri Base on June 17. Their route includes stops at Sauri Lake (June 18), Fugni Lake (June 19), Mata Lake (June 20), Bhapas Lake (June 21), and Bhubhu Jot (June 22). The final leg will take them to Kais Dhar (June 23), Bistapur Garh (June 24) and culminate at Dhalpur in Kullu on June 25.

The expedition is more than just a trek—it’s a call to the younger generation to embrace service to the nation while taking responsibility for preserving natural heritage.
