Rain likely across states this week

The India Meteorological Department has predicted rain across the country this week.

In North-West India, Uttarakhand, UP, East Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and West Rajasthan will receive light to moderate rainfall till June 23.

Delhi is likely to receive rain till June 22. The IMD has also issued a yellow alert for the national capital on June 19, 21 and 22. The maximum temperature is likely to be in the range of 35°C to 37°C and minimum temperature is predicted to be between 26°C and 28°C in the city during this period.

The minimum temperature will be near normal and the maximum temperature will be up to two to four degree Celsius below normal. In the Western India, Gujarat, Konkan, Goa and Maharashtra will receive light rainfall. Tamil Nadu and Coastal Karnataka in Southern India will also receive rainfall in this week.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall will continue over North-East India till June 23, while Meghalaya will receive extremely heavy rainfall on June 18.

In Eastern India, the Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha and Jharkhand will receive heavy rainfall from June 19 to 23. In Central India, Madhya Pradesh will receive precipitation on June 22 and 23.

On June 18, Southwest monsoon advanced over some more parts of the North Arabian Sea, remaining parts of Gujarat, some parts of Rajasthan, MP, East UP and remaining parts of Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand, and some more parts of Bihar.

A low pressure area exists over Central Rajasthan and a trough runs from Punjab to the north Gujarat region. Besides, the country will receive rain due to the Western Disturbance.
