Improvement Trust Chairman inspects dilapidated EO house in Hargobind Nagar
In a proactive step towards urban renewal, Improvement Trust, Phagwara Chairman Jarnail Nangal conducted an on-site inspection of the long-abandoned Executive Officer (EO) housing complex in Hargobind Nagar on Wednesday.
The housing facility, built nearly 35 years ago by the Improvement Trust, has remained unused for a long time. Due to years of neglect, the structure has fallen into a state of near ruin and has reportedly become a hotspot for anti-social activities.
Speaking to the media following the inspection, Nangal expressed deep concern over the unhygienic and unsafe conditions of the premises. “The building is in a deplorable state-windows and doors are completely missing, bathrooms have been vandalized, and the area is filled with garbage. In some corners, people have even resorted to open urination,” he said.
Nangal assured that immediate action is being taken to address the issue. “We have summoned officials to the site and ordered an urgent sanitation and clean-up drive. Plans are being developed to restore the building and make it fit for use once again," he assured. He further emphasised that public funds invested in such infrastructure should not be allowed to go to waste.
According to Nangal, once the renovations are completed, the building may be repurposed for productive community use, aligning with the broader vision of improved urban infrastructure management under the Aam Aadmi Party’s governance.
Accompanying Nangal during the inspection were key community members and Improvement Trust officials, including Harmesh Pal Singh, Balraj Bao, Mani Gobindpura, Dr Ramesh, Manjinder Singh, and Jassi Gandwa, along with other staff from the Trust.
