Indore: A Day After EOW’s Raid, Garden Official Chetan Patil Sacked Over Corruption Charges

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Indore Municipal Corporation on Wednesday terminated services of Chetan Patil, posted as a garden officer a day after Economics Offence Wing (EOW) raided his premises and found disproportionate assets.

As per an official order issued by IMC on Wednesday, Chetan Patil has been sacked with immediate effect. The action follows a letter received from the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), referring to case pertaining to disproportionate income of Patel and his possible involvement in corruption .

“Patil allegedly amassed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. Following a preliminary investigation, the allegations were found to have prima facie merit, leading to the registration of a case under Section 7(c) and other applicable sections of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018,” the order issued by IMC stated.

On June 17,, the EOW conducted a raid at Patil’s residence, during which documents and evidence pointing to unaccounted wealth were allegedly found. The case has been categorised under "serious corruption" by the department.

Given the severity of the charges and as per EOW recommendations, Patil has been sacked from his duties, said municipal commissioner Shivam Verma.
