PM Modi Rejects Trump’s Mediation Claim, Says India Never Accepted Third-Party Role on Pakistan

Amid heightened tensions following Operation Sindoor and the subsequent ceasefire between India and Pakistan, U.S. President Donald Trump repeatedly claimed that he had mediated between the two nations. Over the past 38 days, Trump made such statements at least 13 times, asserting his role in brokering peace. However, in his first direct conversation with Trump after the operation, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi made it unequivocally clear that India has never accepted third-party mediation, nor will it ever do so in the future.Modi emphasized that all communication regarding ceasefire efforts took place directly between Indian and Pakistani military channels. He also clarified that there were no discussions between India and the U.S. on any trade deals or mediation topics during the crisis. India’s Foreign Secretary presented Modi's statement to the nation, firmly stating that mediation was never on the table.Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, who had earlier criticized the government by referencing Trump’s claims, later admitted to his mistake. Still, the opposition continued to question the government's foreign policy approach. The controversy has sparked a broader debate on misinformation and foreign policy integrity, with PM Modi reaffirming India’s stance against terrorism at global platforms like the G7 summit.
