Assembly Bypolls 2025 LIVE UPDATES: Voting for 5 seats in Bengal, Kerala, Punjab, Gujarat begin
New Delhi: Voting for by-elections to five assembly constituencies across Gujarat, West Bengal, Punjab and Kerala began on Thursday morning amid tight security arrangements. The polling began at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm. The seats where polling is underway are Kaliganj in West Bengal, Nilambur in Kerala, Ludhiana West in Punjab, and Kadi and Visavadar in Gujarat. The polling kick started amidst tight security arrangements, including the deployment of central security forces and police, along with live monitoring of the by-election process through an extensive webcasting system. The counting of votes will be held on June 23.
According to the data released by the Election Commission of India, voter turnout in the ongoing Assembly by-elections remained moderate in the early hours of polling. By 9 am, Nilambur (Kerala) recorded the highest turnout at 13.15%, followed by Visavadar (Gujarat) at 12.10%, Kaliganj (West Bengal) at 10.83%, Kadi (Gujarat) at 9.05%, and Ludhiana West (Punjab) with the lowest turnout at 8.50%.
