Amid the war with Israel, Iran has asked its citizens to uninstall WhatsApp. Iranian state television has asked people to remove WhatsApp from their smartphones. It was claimed that WhatsApp has collected users’ data to send to Israel.

Iran believes that WhatsApp has sent intelligence information to Israel and this information can be used by the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad.

What did WhatsApp say on the allegations?

In a statement, WhatsApp said it was “concerned that these false reports would serve as an excuse to block our services at a time when people need them most. WhatsApp uses end-to-end encryption. This means that no service provider in between can read your messages.”

“We don’t track your exact location. We don’t keep a record of who everyone is messaging, and we don’t track the private messages people are sending each other. We don’t provide any information in bulk to any government,” the statement said.

Iran won’t surrender: Khamenei

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader said, Tehran “will never surrender”. Countering the threats given to him by Netanyahu and Trump, the Ayatollah warned the United States of “irreparable damage” if it intervenes in the Israel-Iran conflict. Speaking about Trump, Khamenei wrote, “The US President threatens us. With his absurd rhetoric, he demands that the Iranian people surrender to him. They should make threats against those who are afraid of being threatened. The Iranian nation isn’t frightened by such threats.”
