Trump Repeats Claim of Stopping India-Pakistan War, Calls Modi ‘Fantastic’, Says He Loves Pakistan

US President Donald Trump has once again claimed credit for stopping a potential war between India and Pakistan, asserting that he played a key role in de-escalating tensions between the two nuclear-armed nations. Speaking publicly, Trump said, "I stopped the war between Pakistan and India. Modi from India and others were going at it… I stopped it." He praised PM Narendra Modi as a “fantastic man” and revealed they had spoken the previous night, adding that trade deals with both India and Pakistan are in progress. While Trump highlighted his fondness for both countries—especially his “love” for Pakistan—his remarks came shortly after meeting Pakistani Army Chief General Asim Munir in Washington, a visit that has stirred controversy. Trump praised Munir’s leadership and implied that he traveled to the US on Trump’s invitation. This is not the first time Trump has made such mediation claims. However, PM Modi had earlier clarified during a G7 Summit in Canada that no third-party intervened in India-Pakistan matters, and that the ceasefire request came solely from Pakistan.
