'Don't Talk Nonsense': Kajol Trolled For Calling Ramoji Film City 'Haunted' Amid Maa Promotions; Hyderabadis Upset (VIDEO)
Actress Kajol has stirred controversy with her recent remarks about Hyderabad's iconic Ramoji Film City. During an interview while promoting her upcoming film Maa, the actress described the sprawling film studio complex as "one of the most haunted places in the world", a statement that hasn't gone down well with many, particularly Hyderabadis.
"Sometimes, when you go to a place, you feel like something isn't right," Kajol said in the interview. "I've shot at places where I couldn't sleep all night. I felt like it would be better if I just left," she added.
Citing Ramoji Film City as a 'prime example,' she stated, "It's considered one of the most haunted places in the world. I've been lucky not to have seen anything paranormal, though."
Her comments quickly went viral on social media, drawing sharp reactions from netizens, especially locals from Hyderabad. Many users called her statements "baseless" and accused her of disrespecting a place that has long been a source of pride for the city and the Indian film industry.
A section of social media users slammed her for calling Ramoji haunted for 'publicity', stating that thousands of people work there every day and there's no proof of anything paranormal. Some also joked about the trend of Bollywood celebs making controversial remarks ahead of a film release.
Kajol leaves Hyderabadis upset
Some X users recalled that earlier actress Taapsee Pannu too had shared a similar experience. A few users also came out in support of the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai actress.
"With due respect to Kajol, if Ramoji Film City were truly haunted, lakhs of people wouldn’t be visiting it every year. It's Hyderabad's pride in film tourism," a user wrote on X along with Kajol's video.
"Don't take them seriously - I am sure she might be promoting horror and supernatural movie. Post release, she will say she doesn't follow unscientific beliefs," wrote another user.
"I am from Hyderabad and I never came to know that RFC is a haunted place. " read another comment.
"Immaturity at its peak...never ever heard that about RFC. Had been there with family too but never witnessed such vibes there like Kajol is preaching.... unbelievable," wrote another X user.
"This is nothing compared to Vimal pan masala (which is endorsed by her husband) that has haunted the lives of many people," a troll commented.
"#Kajol is a public figure with massive following and influence, irresponsible statements like these aren't expected out of her," commented an angry user.
