Mumbai News: CSMIA Exports Over 3,600 Metric Tonnes Of Mangoes To London, Toronto & New York, Records 9% Growth From Last Year

Mumbai: Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) managed 3.624 metric tonnes of mango export in April and May, recording a 9% rise in mango shipments from last year. The dominant mango varieties exported from CSMIA included Alphonso, Chausa, Kesar, Badami and Neelam to London, Toronto and New York.

This mango season, CSMIA played a crucial role in taking India’s prized mangoes to the world. In April and May 2025 alone, the airport efficiently managed 3,624 MT of mango export, marking a remarkable 9% rise from the previous year and reinforcing its expanding role in global trade.

As a crucial air cargo hub for perishables, CSMIA facilitated the export of some of India’s finest mango varieties, including Alphonso, Chausa, Kesar, Badami, and Neelam, meeting global demand. London led as the top destination, followed by Toronto and New York, where Indian mangoes continue to enjoy a premium position and dedicated consumer base.

The heart of this operation is the airport’s Agro Excellence Centre, a 2,000 sq.mt. temperature-controlled zone where every critical process from acceptance and screening to palletisation is conducted in a meticulously maintained environment.

Temperature within the facility is consistently regulated between 15°C and 25°C to preserve freshness and prevent spoilage. Shipments are handled with utmost care to minimise exposure to heat and maintain optimal humidity levels. Palletisation is done strategically to ensure proper air circulation, further enhancing the longevity and quality of the fruit.

Adding to its technological edge, CSMIA offers real-time shipment tracking through the mobile application ‘Turant’, providing exporters and stakeholders with end-to-end visibility and control. Every step, from offloading to customs clearance and final pallet release, is synchronised to ensure that the ready to be uplifted pallets are released only at the time of flight departure.

"At CSMIA, we take immense pride in being the gateway for exporting India’s renowned mangoes to the global markets. With cutting-edge infrastructure and an advanced cold-chain system, we help preserve and elevate the global reputation of Indian mangoes by ensuring every fruit reaches its destination in peak freshness. Our commitment is to excellence and to supporting exporters in taking India’s finest mango produce to the world,” a CSMIA spokesperson said.
