Sitaare Zameen Par Review: Aamir Khan Starrer Is The Best Film Of The Year So Far; A Must Watch!
Sitaare Zameen Par Review: Aamir Khan is known for delivering some fantastic films. However, his last two releases, Laal Singh Chaddha (2022) and Thugs of Hindostan (2018), failed to impress the audience and were box office duds. Now, all eyes are on Sitaare Zameen Par, which has hit the big screens today (June 20, 2025). The trailer of the film had grabbed everyone's attention, and well, the movie has turned out to be better than what we all expected.
The film is about Gulshan (Aamir Khan), who works as an assistant basketball coach, but due to one incident, he is suspended, and he also gets into legal trouble. Instead of sending him to jail, the court gives him a punishment to work as a coach for a basketball team that has intellectually disabled people. Gulshan is given the responsibility to train them for a tournament. So, will he be able to do this difficult job? Will the team win the tournament? Well, to know the answers to these questions, you need to watch the movie...
Sitaare Zameen Par is an adaptation of the Spanish film Champions. Divy Nidhi Sharma has written the movie, and RS Prasanna has directed it. As we have not watched the original movie, SZP is a fresh film for us.
Well, it is a wonderful film filled with many hilarious scenes and some light-hearted moments. Even if you are not laughing out loud, there will be a smile on your face throughout.
It is a sensitive topic, but Sharma and Prasanna have handled it very well. The movie doesn't waste much time on build-up and soon comes to the point. Some moments will make you emotional, but within a few seconds, the scene will take a U-turn, and it will make you laugh.
The runtime of Sitaare Zameen Par is 158 minutes, but you won't feel bored for even a second. It simply moves forward in a breezy manner. In the climax, there's a scene that will keep you on the edge of your seat; for those 30 seconds, you will forget everything and be hooked to the screen.
Sitaare Zameen Par Review - Actors' Performance
Aamir Khan has performed well. At the start, you might feel that he is doing a bit of overacting, but as the film progresses, you do get comfortable with his character. Also, his performance looks like a mixture of Rang De Basanti, PK, and a bit of Laal Singh Chaddha as well. Genelia Deshmukh doesn't have much to do in the first half, but in the second half, she does have some scenes in which she shines.
However, the show stealers are the intellectually disabled actors. Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar, all of them have nailed it in their respective roles, and they are looking super cute in the film. Kudos to the makers for the casting!
Supporting actors like Dolly Ahaluwalia, Brijendra Kala, and Gurpal Singh are very good in their respective roles.
Sitaare Zameen Par Review - Music
In one department, the film fails to impress is the music. The songs in the movie don't leave a strong mark. We expected more from Shankar Ehsaan Loy.
Sitaare Zameen Par Review - Final Verdict
Overall, Sitaare Zameen Par is a beautiful film that entertains and also gives an important message without being preachy. It is undoubtedly the best film of the year so far. So, go to a theatre near you or far away from you and watch this film because it is a must-watch!
Ratings: 3.5 stars
P.S. If you skip Sitaare Zameen Par in theatres, next time don't complain that Bollywood doesn't make good films!
