Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis Holds Review Meeting On Navi Mumbai; Focus On Long-Pending Development Matters
In a high level review meeting significant decisions to resolve several long-pending issues related to Navi Mumbai’s development was reportedly taken.
The meeting was held at the Chief Ministers official residence - Varsha alongwith the State Forest Minister and Airoli MLA Ganesh Naik.
The Chief Minister is informed by the forest ministers office to have directed the regularization of essential constructions carried out by project-affected persons in Navi Mumbai. He is also informed to have instructed that project-affected persons working on a contractual basis in various development projects be provided permanent employment. "
The directives have brought long-awaited relief to residents in Gaothan (village expansion) areas. A time-bound roadmap for this purpose will be prepared, especially for those affected by Morbe Dam and CIDCO projects, similar to the policy adopted for Barvi Dam-affected families," said the office bearer.
In the meeting it was stated that the development plan passed by the General Body of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation is to be approved without any changes, ensuring smooth and unhindered growth of the city. Along with this, hoarding and hawker policies are to receive prompt approval.
To support the livelihood of local fishermen affected by large infrastructure projects like the Shivdi-Nhava Sheva link, the Chief Minister is informed to have ordered appropriate compensation. " He also directed that CIDCO housing scheme prices be reduced to make them affordable for the common people. Furthermore, locals are to be given employment opportunities in the Navi Mumbai International Airport project," said the office bearer.
Decisions were also made to keep the Airoli Jetty operational 24/7, legalize essential constructions, and allot rehabilitation plots to quarry and crusher plot holders. The Forest minister Naik is stated to have emphasized the urgent need to resolve citizen-related issues in Navi Mumbai and he requested the construction of public facilities like an open-air stage, art academy, mini-theatre, Marathi Language Bhavan, and an international-level sports complex in Ghansoli.
He is stated to have also demanded that the development charges collected in the area be shared with the Municipal Corporation and that industrial plots earmarked for civic amenities be handed over to the civic body
The meeting was attended by former MPs Dr. Sanjeev Naik and Kapil Patil, NMMC Commissioner Kailas Shinde, CIDCO Managing Director Vijay Singhal, and senior officials from key state departments.
