Govt failed to give fertilisers to farmers on time: Hooda

Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has expressed serious concern over the shortage of DAP. He said there is a huge shortage of DAP in many areas, including Sonepat, Jhajjar, Fatehabad, Hisar and Rohtak.

He said farmers are wandering from door to door for fertilisers and the government is sitting idle even as the paddy transplantation season has started.

Hooda alleged farmers have to face shortage of fertilisers in every crop season because the BJP government didn’t make arrangements in time. “Due to this, farmers have to buy expensive fertilisers from the black market, which puts economic burden on them. Production is also affected due to non-availability of fertilisers on time.

“DAP has completely run out in Sonepat because 1.1 lakh quintals of fertiliser is needed in this season, but till now, only 40,000 quintals of DAP has reached the farmers. Similarly, there is a shortage in Jhajjar as well. Barely 150 quintals of DAP were supplied a week ago, but now, the fertiliser supply has stopped. Supply has also stopped in Rewari,” he said.

He said the total consumption of DAP in Rohtak district is 1.7 lakh quintals, but the entire stock has not reached there yet. Similarly, 1.85 lakh quintals are required in Fatehabad, but only 55,000 quintals have reached so far. In Hisar, DAP has not been supplied for the past 15 days due to which there is great resentment among the farmers.
