Congress issues show-cause notice to Fatehabad leader over indiscipline
The Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) has served a show-cause notice to Harpal Budania, district pesident of the Unorganised Workers and Employees Congress (UWEC) in Fatehabad, over alleged indiscipline during a party meeting in Tohana on June 17.
The notice follows a complaint that Budania made public accusations against Tohana MLA Paramvir Singh during the internal meeting. The party has described Budania’s actions as a serious breach of discipline and said the incident has tarnished the Congress’ image.
The letter also states that the matter is being taken seriously by the party affairs incharge for Haryana, and Budania has been asked to submit his explanation within seven days of receiving the notice. Failure to provide a satisfactory response, the party warned, may result in disciplinary action.
Speaking to The Tribune, Harpal Budania defended his position, saying, “I had recently raised concerns about alleged corruption in the construction of a road in Tohana, which upset some local Congress leaders.”
He also said his comments during the district-level meeting stemmed from his desire to revitalise the party’s leadership.
“I supported appointing a young leader to bring fresh energy to the party and reduce internal factionalism,” he said.
