CM to lead session at Yamuna Vihar to mark International Yoga Day celebrations

The Delhi Government is all set to celebrate International Yoga Day on Saturday, June 21, with special yoga sessions planned at 11 prominent venues across the capital. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will lead the flagship event at the Yamuna Vihar Water Sports Club near Wazirabad Bridge at 6 am, where hundreds of yoga enthusiasts are expected to participate.

Highlighting the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health," CM Rekha Gupta emphasised that yoga is a holistic practice that nurtures harmony among the mind, body, and soul. “On Yoga Day, Delhi will resonate with the spirit of health and well-being," she stated.

The government has curated special sessions at major public venues including Chhatrasal Stadium, Thyagaraj Stadium, East Vinod Nagar Sports Complex, Jhilmil Sports Complex, Rajiv Gandhi Stadium (Bawana), Prahladpur Sports Complex, Bharat Nagar Sports Complex, Najafgarh Stadium, Sector-6 Dwarka Cricket Ground, and Ashok Nagar Hockey Stadium. All events will begin at 6 am.

Apart from government-led events, various organizations, institutions, and citizens are also organizing independent yoga sessions, reflecting the widespread adoption of yoga in daily life.

CM Gupta reiterated that yoga is not just a physical routine, but a way of life that promotes balance and well-being. “Yoga, an ancient Indian practice, is now a global movement. Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the world now celebrates India’s invaluable gift to humanity every June 21," she said.

The Chief Minister added that yoga has been a part of Indian tradition since the Vedic era and has long been recognised by sages as a powerful tool for health, discipline, and meditation.
