The event will be inaugurated by Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, as announced by Yadupati Thakur, General Secretary of the Professional Boxing Organisation, during a press conference held today.
Thakur shared that the prestigious event will witness the presence of several dignitaries, including Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, HPCC president Pratibha Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh, Shimla (Urban) MLA Harish Janartha, along with other cabinet ministers and legislators.
“All preparations for the event have been finalized,” Thakur said, adding that the tournament will feature internationally renowned boxers from Russia and Uzbekistan, along with top-level contenders from India and Himachal Pradesh.
A major highlight of the evening will be the participation of Vinakshi Thakur, a state-level boxer from Rohru, Shimla and national gold medalist, who will square off against a female boxer from Russia. The tournament will include at least five competitive bouts and several distinguished boxers will also be felicitated during the event.
To add cultural vibrance to the sporting evening, the event will feature live performances by renowned Punjabi singer Kanwar Grewal, emerging talent Arjun Amori and Himachali folk icon Kuldeep Sharma, popularly known as the ‘Nati King’.
Thakur emphasised that this initiative is a tribute to Virbhadra Singh’s enduring legacy and reflects the organisation’s commitment to promoting sports culture among Himachali youth.
