Four arrested for snatching, theft in Mullanpur Garibdas
The police have arrested four suspects involved in three snatching incidents in the Mullanpur Garibdas area. A pair of earrings, an auto-rickshaw, a motorbike and a scooter have been recovered from them.
Mohit Agarwal, Superintendent of Police, Sub-Division Mullanpur, said a case (No. 100 dated June 11) under Sections 304(2), 3(5) of the BNS was registered at Eco City-2 Police Station, Mullanpur Garibdas, regarding the theft of a gold chain and earrings.
The suspects—Mohan Giri and Vicky Giri, both brothers and residents of Sultanpur, Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh), currently tenants in Pallanpur village—were arrested on June 11.
During interrogation, they confessed to having also committed another chain snatching incident at Alts Society on the morning of June 11. In connection with that case, an FIR under the same sections of the BNS was registered on June 12 at Mullanpur Garibdas Police Station and both accused were arrested on June 16 and remanded to police custody.
A stolen motorcycle and scooter used in the snatching were also recovered. Two more accused have been nominated in this case.
In a separate incident on June 15, another snatching was reported, following which a case was registered and the culprits apprehended. The accused—Santosh Kumar, a native of Pratapgarh (Uttar Pradesh) and tenant opposite Sitla Mata Mandir; Lalit Kumar of Darbhanga, tenant of Dadu Majra—were arrested. The stolen gold earrings were recovered from Santosh Kumar and the auto-rickshaw used in the theft was recovered from Lalit Kumar.
