BKI module busted, claim police
With the arrest of a youth, the police claimed to have busted a Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) module backed by UK-based handler Dharam Singh alias Dharma Sandhu, who originally hailed from Dhanoa Kalan village here.
The police have recovered six sophisticated pistols, including four 9 mm Glock pistols and two .30 bore PX5 pistols from the arrested accused, identified as Onkar Singh alias Nawab (18) of Jalalusma village falling under Mehta police station here. He was a local operative of the BKI module.
Dharma is a close associate of Pakistan-based terrorist Harvinder Singh alias Rinda.
According to Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, the accused were pushing arms and ammunition through drones from across the Pakistan border for aiding terror related activities.
“The weapon consignment was sneaked into Indian territory via drones,” he said, adding that a case under the Arms Act has been registered against Onkar Singh in this regard while Dharam Singh was also nominated in the case.
“Investigations revealed that the weapons were meant to be distributed to different operatives of the terror group for disruptive activities and also among the sleeper cells for carrying out targeted killings and terror activities in the border state,” said the Police Commissioner while adding that the police was working to unearth the entire network and establish its international linkages.
Several more names have cropped up during the initial probe and efforts are on by the police to further identify the handlers and local operatives linked to foreign entities.
