'Peace Through Strength': Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu Praises Donald Trump After US Strikes Iran Nuclear Sites

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu lauded US President Donald Trump after American forces carried out direct strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites early Sunday morning. The attacks mark a major shift, with the US now directly engaged in Israel’s effort to cripple Iran’s nuclear programme.

In a video message posted on X, Netanyahu praised Trump for showing strength against what he called 'the world’s most dangerous regime' armed with 'the world’s most dangerous weapon.' He added, “President Trump and I often say: ‘Peace through strength.’ First comes strength, then comes peace. And tonight, Donald Trump and the United States acted with a lot of strength.”

Trump Confirms Strikes On Iran

The strikes targeted fortified nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan, with Trump confirming via social media that B-2 stealth bombers dropped a full payload of bombs on the primary site, Fordow. "All planes are now outside of Iranian airspace. All are safely on their way home," he wrote. However, neither the White House nor the Pentagon have elaborated on the exact nature of the weapons used.

The United States’ entry into the conflict follows over a week of Israeli bombardment aimed at dismantling Iran’s missile capabilities and air defences. The US contribution was seen as critical, as its B-2 bombers are the only aircraft capable of deploying the 30,000-pound GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator, a bunker-buster capable of destroying deeply buried nuclear sites like Fordow.

Trump's decision comes despite months of diplomatic efforts to dissuade Iran from continuing its nuclear activities. Officials say he had previously delayed action in hopes of a negotiated resolution. However, with Israeli pressure mounting and key Republican allies urging military intervention, Trump authorised the strikes, calculating that the Israeli campaign had sufficiently weakened Iranian defences.

Iran responded with strong warnings. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said such attacks would result in 'irreparable damage,' while a Foreign Ministry spokesman warned any American involvement would spark 'all-out war.' Iranian-backed Houthi rebels also threatened to resume attacks on US vessels if the strikes continued.

The International Atomic Energy Agency had confirmed that Iran was enriching uranium at Fordow, raising fears that bunker-busting bombs could risk radioactive contamination. Meanwhile, Israel’s military says it is preparing for the possibility of a protracted conflict.
