Major Sunday Megablocks On Mumbai's Central, Harbour Lines: Here's What Commuters Need To Know
Commuters on Mumbai’s Central and Harbour lines faced planned service disruptions on Sunday, as Central Railway announced a scheduled megablock between Matunga and Mulund on the slow lines from 11:05 am to 3:55 pm.
As part of the maintenance work, Up slow services departing from Thane between 11:07 am and 3:51 pm were diverted to the Up fast line from Mulund to Matunga. These diverted trains made temporary halts at Mulund, Bhandup, Vikhroli, Ghatkopar, Kurla, and Sion, before switching back to the slow line at Matunga. Due to the detour, these services ran 15 minutes behind schedule, affecting travel plans for many on an otherwise busy Sunday.
On the Harbour line, a similar block was enforced between Mankhurd and Nerul from 11:15 am to 4:15 pm. During this period, special train services operated between CSMT-Mankhurd and Panvel-Nerul/Thane, offering alternative options to minimise inconvenience. Passengers on the Harbour line were also permitted to use the Trans-Harbour and Main lines until 6 pm to facilitate smoother travel.
In some relief for Western Railway commuters, no day block was in effect on the Western line on Sunday. However, in the early hours, a block was undertaken on the fast lines between Borivali and Bhayandar, marking a brief disruption before regular services resumed.
With maintenance work continuing across various corridors, railway authorities have urged commuters to check updated timetables and plan their journeys accordingly.
