Formally joining Israel's war against Iran, the United States struck three key nuclear Iranian sites during the early hours of Sunday. Urging Iran to "make peace", US President Donald Trump said if peace does not come quickly, they will go after other Iranian targets and "most of them can be taken out in a matter of minutes."
In a televised address, calling Iran a state sponsor of terror, Trump said, "Our objective was the destruction of Iran's nuclear enrichment capacity, and a stop to the nuclear threat posed by the world's No 1 state sponsor of terror."
The US conducted airstrikes on key Iranian nuclear sites - Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan. Fordo is where Iran’s fortified underground enrichment centre is located; the nuclear facility in Natanz, was previously struck by Israel; and a third site near Isfahan, where Iran is believed to have stored near-weapons-grade uranium.
US President Trump said a full payload of bombs was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. The US reportedly deployed its B-2 stealth bombers to strike the Fordow nuclear facility. The US reportedly dropped 30,000-pound bunker-busting American bomb known as the GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator to strike the Fordow nuclear site.
The White House has now released images of Trump monitoring the US strikes on three Iranian nuclear enrichment sites from the Situation Room during the early hours of Sunday.
Trump is pictured donning a bright red hat blaring his signature campaign slogan, 'Make America Great Again.' The photos showed Trump with senior members of his team, including Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, doubling as Trump's national security adviser, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
