Govt enhances grievance redressal with weekly camps and 24×7 portal

In a move to ensure effective public outreach and timely resolution of citizen grievances, the Delhi Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has intensified its efforts through a combination of high-tech grievance monitoring systems and on-ground weekly Jan Sunwai (public hearing) camps.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office, Jan Sunwai camps are now being organised every week across all revenue districts in the national capital. These camps, led by District Magistrates and attended by officials from departments such as the Municipal Corporation, Delhi Police, Delhi Jal Board, PWD, Education and Health, are designed to bring the government closer to the people. Uniquely, many of these camps are being held in community spaces such as schools, chaupals and banquet halls—moving beyond traditional government offices to create a more approachable environment for citizens.

“These are not just grievance redressal camps, but platforms to listen, engage and act. I also personally meet people at my residence so that citizens feel connected to a responsive and responsible government,” said CM Rekha Gupta.

Recently, Jan Sunwai camps have been held in subdivisions including Model Town, Kanjhawala, Seelampur, Civil Lines, Karol Bagh, Vasant Vihar, Punjabi Bagh, Kapashera, Sarita Vihar and Dwarka. Over 600 citizens attended the most recent weekend camps, while previous sessions on May 17 and May 24 saw participation from 1,260 and 1,350 people respectively. RWAs, local MLAs and councillors have also actively participated in these sessions.

The camps address a wide range of civic and administrative concerns—such as issues of potable water, sewage, encroachments, dark spots, stray animals, road maintenance, non-functional streetlights and illegal construction. Officials aim to resolve problems on the spot wherever possible, while unresolved matters are directed to the departments concerned for quick follow-up.

To further enhance accessibility, complaint boxes are being installed outside government offices, and the 24×7 Public Grievance Monitoring System (https://pgms.delhi.gov.in/) remains active. Citizens can file complaints, track progress and give feedback through the portal.

Chief Minister Gupta emphasised that the initiative is part of her government’s larger commitment to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of citizen-first governance. “We are implementing Modi ji’s principle that government must act as a public servant—not a ruler. Our administration is alert, compassionate and committed to resolving every issue with transparency and sensitivity,” she said.
