Two-day conference for democratic governance in Dharamsala from June 30
The annual conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), India Region, Zone-II, is set to be held in Dharamsala from June 30 to July 1, bringing together prominent parliamentary leaders for discussions on democratic governance and legislative excellence.
Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania extended a formal invitation to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to grace the inaugural ceremony of the prestigious conference.
Pathania said the event will witness participation from distinguished delegates representing Zone-II, which includes Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir. Attendees will include the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, Speakers and Deputy Speakers of various State Legislative Assemblies, Leaders of the Opposition, Chief Whips and MLAs from the member states.
Additionally, Speakers from Karnataka, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Telangana have been invited as special guests, further broadening the scope of inter-state parliamentary engagement.
Highlighting the significance of the event, Speaker Pathania said the conference aims to foster meaningful dialogue on legislative practices, strengthen regional cooperation, and promote the exchange of best practices in parliamentary governance. The platform, he added, will play a crucial role in reinforcing democratic institutions and deepening federal harmony across the nation.
