Minister launches Aam Aadmi Clinic Bus Sewa in Sahnewal constituency

Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian today launched the Aam Aadmi Clinic Bus Sewa, a mobile healthcare initiative, for Sahnewal constituency. This innovative clinic on wheels will visit villages and wards daily as per a scheduled time-table, bringing world-class medical services directly to the people’s doorsteps.

Mundian highlighted that this launch fulfilled a key promise made during the 2022 election to deliver the best healthcare services to the people. “We are now fulfilling each promise step by step,” he said, reaffirming the government’s dedication to improving public health.

Equipped with a doctor and paramedics, the bus will offer free medicines and diagnostic tests, with a special focus on serving the elderly and those unable to travel due to illness. The initiative underscores state government’s commitment to providing top-tier medical facilities at no cost to its people.

The Tribune had last month highlighted the non-availability of emergency medical officers in the community health centre of Sahnewal to attend to a population of approximately 7 lakh, including that of the town as well as surrounding villagers. It had been more than three years that the peoploe had been suffering due to severe scarcity of doctors in the centre at Sahnewal. As a result of this, poor patients were either suffering or shelling out thousands of rupees to private doctors. There are two medical officers against five sanctioned posts and one emergency medical officer (on deputation) against the sanctioned two. This centre is bereft of staff, be it a general surgeon, physician, paediatrician or orthopaedic.

The residents welcomed this step of the government and expected that the van should solve the actual purpose for which it had been started. “We expect the van to attend to the poor and the needy who could not afford costly medical care. Hope it meets our expectations,” expressed a resident.
