Laghu Udyog Bharati Punjab elects new leadership, focuses on key industrial reforms
Laghu Udyog Bharati Punjab held its executive committee meeting in Goraya on Sunday, during which several significant resolutions were passed to address long-standing challenges faced by the industrial sector in the state.
Alongside these policy discussions, the meeting also saw the election of new office-bearers for the Punjab unit of Laghu Udyog Bharati. Pradeep Mongia was elected as President, Seema Dhumal as Senior Vice President, and Vivek Rathore as General Secretary. Amardeep Shergill was named Convenor, while Mona Mongia and Puneet Gupta were selected as Co-Convenor and Treasurer, respectively.
The organisation strongly advocated for the abolition of the inspector raj system, which it believes continues to hinder business operations and discourage investment. Members also urged the Punjab government to ensure the full implementation of a single-window clearance mechanism for all necessary No Objection Certificates (NOCs), enabling smoother and faster approvals for new industrial ventures.
A major demand raised during the meeting was for the establishment of dedicated industrial focal points in smaller towns across Punjab, where entrepreneurs could access land at affordable rates. The organisation emphasised that decentralising industrial infrastructure would promote balanced regional growth and open up new opportunities for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Additionally, the participants welcomed the various incentives currently being offered by the state government to support industrial development but stressed the need for more transparent and timely execution.
The session drew a large number of participants, including industrialists and representatives from various district units across Punjab. During the proceedings, key industry figures such as Ashok Gupta, Arvind Dhumal, Jaswinder Singh Suri, and others addressed the audience, highlighting the pressing issues facing the MSME sector and calling for stronger government-industry collaboration.
In his remarks, newly elected President Pradeep Mongia emphasised the importance of reducing bureaucratic obstacles and ensuring accountability in the approval process. He noted that while the state has introduced promising initiatives, much work remains to streamline implementation and truly empower local industry.
The meeting concluded with a unanimous commitment from the members to continue working closely with the government to achieve a more business-friendly environment and further strengthen the voice of small and medium-scale industries across Punjab.
