Jagan Mohan Reddy, His Driver & 4 Others Booked After Party Worker Crushed To Death Under Convoy Vehicle In Guntur
Guntur: The Andhra Pradesh police on Sunday filed an FIR against former Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, his driver Ramana Reddy and four others, in connection with the death of a party worker who was allegedly crushed under the wheels of Jagan’s vehicle. The incident occurred on Wednesday, June 18 on the outskirts of Guntur district and has since sparked widespread outrage.
The deceased, identified as 54-year-old Cheeli Singaiah, a resident of Vengalayapalem village and a YSRCP supporter, had gathered near Yetukuru village to welcome the former CM. Jagan was en route to Rentapalli village in Sattenapalli mandal to unveil a statue.
Terrifying Scenes Caught On Camera
According to eyewitnesses and video footage now viral on social media, Singaiah attempted to shower flowers on the convoy when he slipped and fell near Jagan’s moving vehicle. The car reportedly did not stop and continued moving, with the wheels allegedly running over the activist’s neck.
Singaiah was immediately rushed to the Guntur Government Hospital by onlookers but succumbed to his injuries during treatment. According to a Moneycontrol report, Guntur Superintendent of Police Satish Kumar confirmed on Sunday that police have 'conclusive evidence' of Singaiah being run over by the vehicle carrying Jagan Mohan Reddy. The SP added that the vehicle did not halt following the accident, raising serious questions about negligence.
FIR Filed, Jagan Reddy & Former Ministers Named
An FIR was lodged against Jagan Mohan Reddy, his driver Ramana Reddy, former MP Y.V. Subbareddy, and former ministers Vidadala Rajani and Perni Nani. The driver, Ramana Reddy, was taken into custody and is currently being interrogated. Police are investigating why the convoy did not stop despite the incident occurring in full public view.
