In one of the interviews, Amitabh Bachchan said that during the screening of the film, his wife Jaya told him that the movie would not work. And whatever the veteran actress said turned out to be true.

In another interview, Amitabh accepted that his film Mrityudaata did not work and was a huge flop. He also said that for the failure, he held himself responsible.

According to reports, Mrityudaata only earned Rs 8 crore—literally half of the budget.
