Ipower Batteries witnesses a growth of 50% in demand for their E-Rickshaw batteries in various categories of passenger and loader vehicles for FY 2025-26

Delhi, 23rd June 2025: Affordable, last mile transport solutions are the need of the hour for our cities which are constantly under the grind due to choices that have adverse environmental impacts and need better, efficient, and clean mobility solutions. Besides other transport options even electric rickshaws are a good option for providing sustainable and cost-effective las mile mobility solutions in urban and peri-urban areas.

Ipower Batteries is currently offering Lithium-ion batteries which are 50-60% lighter than lead acid batteries, and have a 25-50% higher storage capacity, making them well-suited for the growing need for e-rickshaws that can travel longer distances without frequent charging. With significant decrease in lithium cell prices, lithium battery-based e-rickshaw are seeing a widescale adoption. It offers increased battery efficiency because it has a range of 100+ km per charge, catering to the demand for sustainable transportation solutions.

Ipower Batteries has witnessed a surge in demand by almost 3 times in the past 6 months, compared to the same period last year, which shows the projected demand of these batteries to grow substantially in FY 2025-26 vis-a-via FY 2024-25.

The company has declared delivering more than 100,000 KWh lithium batteries in e-rickshaw to more than 30+ clients Pan India. Some of the prominent names being Gayatri e-rickshaw, HMC, Avon, Greaves, Lohia to name a few. The typical size of battery in demand are generally 2.5 KW, 5KW, 6KW, 7.2 KW, 12 KW for various passenger and commercial e-rickshaws. To ease seamless distribution the company has also strengthened its dealership base in states for Delhi NCR, Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. In the next leg of expansion, the company is targeting Bihar, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Maharashtra. Additionally, the affordability of e-rickshaws contributes to better generation of income for drivers, which fosters entrepreneurship or self-employment, aiding the India electric rickshaw market growth However, loader e-rickshaws are capturing growing electric rickshaw market share in India as they widely being adopted by e-commerce and distribution companies due to their capacity to bear heavy loads without compromising on fuel-efficiency and delivery time. Many loader e-rickshaws are now under the ‘electrification’ process, which will further increase demand for these vehicles.
