Indian Coast Guard Celebrates 11th International Day Of Yoga With “Yoga Sangam”
In a resounding display of unity and commitment to wellness, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) proudly celebrated the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) on 21 Jun 2025, through its flagship event “Yoga Sangam”. Embracing the AYUSH Mantralaya’s global theme "Yoga for One Earth, One Health", the celebrations reinforced a shared vision of holistic health that transcends borders, professions, and cultures.
Coordinated yoga sessions were held simultaneously at over 60 Coast Guard locations across the country's vast coastline and island territories. Thousands of Coast Guard personnel and their families actively participated in these sessions, which were led by trained yoga instructors and included a holistic sequence of asanas (yogic postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), and meditation techniques.
Special emphasis was placed on yoga practices that can be seamlessly integrated into the daily routines of Coast Guard personnel, aiming to enhance stress management, mental clarity, and physical resilience qualities essential for those serving in demanding maritime roles.
The main event, held at the Coast Guard Complex, Sector-24, Noida (Delhi NCR), in association with the Yog Vandana Institute, was graced by Director General Paramesh Sivamani, AVSM, PTM, TM, Director General of the Indian Coast Guard. Addressing over 1,000 ICG personnel and their family members, he highlighted the pivotal role of yoga in enhancing overall well-being, particularly for those serving in operational and high-stress environments.
Yoga instructor Ms. Vandana Gupta from the Yog Vandana Institute, along with a team of six expert practitioners, led the central session. Their guidance provided participants from beginners to seasoned yoga enthusiasts with valuable insights into the philosophy and practical benefits of yoga, fostering an atmosphere of learning, connection, and inner peace
