CM flying squad raids factory supplying expired fertiliser to farmers

In a major crackdown to protect farmers, the Chief Minister flying squad on Sunday raided a bio-fertiliser factory operating near Khairekan village in Sirsa district. The team found several irregularities, including large quantities of expired and unlabelled products on the unit premises.

Acting on previous test failures, the squad, led by Inspector Rajesh, accompanied by Agriculture Deputy Director Sukhdev Singh Kamboj, seized 20 to 25 buckets of expired “Micro Raj” fertiliser, dated March 2025. Many women were found packing products in bags labelled by a company based in Haridwar, raising further questions over their quality.

Shockingly, the factory housed both bio and chemical fertilisers, with several bottles missing proper labels or expiry details. Fertiliser samples were collected and sent to lab for testing. A previous sample from the same unit had already failed test due to misbranding, leading to this second raid.

The authorities sealed the expired stock and assured strict action once the test results arrive. The raid is seen as a step to stop fake or harmful fertilisers from reaching farmers in Haryana and Rajasthan.

Factory owner Gurpreet Singh claimed that all products were made under the government licence and destroyed once expired. He admitted one sample had failed earlier, but termed it a minor issue.

Running since 2021, the factory has been supplying fertilisers across states. Officials said unauthorised and misbranded products would attract legal action against the owner under relevant laws.
