INS Teg concludes Mauritius port call, bolsters maritime partnership

The INS Teg, Indian Navy’s frontline warship, has concluded a port call at Port Louis in Mauritius. The exercise included a coordinated surveillance of the exclusive economic zone (EEZ), in collaboration with the Mauritius National Coast Guard (NCG) ships and aircraft.

The visit formed part of the INS Teg’s operational deployment to the Indian Ocean Region and featured a spectrum of professional, social and cultural engagements, to cement the maritime partnership between India and Mauritius, the Indian Navy said on Monday.

This effort is aimed at safeguarding the global commons and combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. As part of the capacity-building initiatives and exchange of best practices, the personnel from Mauritius were trained on board the INS Teg in firefighting, damage control, bridge and engine room watch-keeping, electrical systems and handling small arms.
