BBIA assails JPDCL, NTPC for damage to SIDCO complex

Laying of overhead bunch, under-ground cables

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, June 23: Bari Brahmana Industries Association in a meeting held under the presidentship of Lalit Mahajan, along with office bearers of BBIA discussed the issue regarding the massive damage to civil infrastructure in Bari Brahmana Industrial Complex, done by the JPDCL and NTPC resulting great resentment amongst the unit holders.
It is pertinent to mention here that JPDCL failed to commission the overhead bunch cable laid in the Complex spending crores of public money but failed to charge the same due to reasons best known to the concerned departments.
It is worthwhile to mention here that again the tender for the laying of underground cable was allotted to NTPC by JPDCL and the work has been started through contractor who damaged the civil infrastructure of unit holders as well as of J&K SIDCO in the span of 10 km lanes/drains/ electrical installation of PDD as well as SIDCO but the NTPC contractor failed to restore the work resulting massive damage to civil infrastructure as well to cable lying in the open areas and we fear that the crores of rupees allocated for the laying may be lost due to damage to electric cable.
BBIA has drawn the attention of Manoj Sinha, Lt Governor, JKUT, Omar Abdullah Chief Minister JKUT who is also holding the charge of Power Ministry and Surinder Kumar Choudhary Deputy Chief Minister JKUT who is also holding the charge of Industries Ministry that in spite of repeated reminders to Executive Engineer NTPC Jammu Office, Managing Director J&K SIDCO and Executive Engineer J&K SIDCO, no corrective steps has been taken by the NTPC and J&K SIDCO for the restoration of damaged civil work as well as damage done to culverts of Industrial Units resulting the whole complex turned into the heap of garbage during the current rainy season for which the NTPC is wholly responsible for the delay in the restoration work resulting huge loss to the state exchequer.
Further it is a matter of great concern that JPDCL has left the work of laying of overhead bunch cable half way in the Industrial Complex and further orders has been given to NTPC for the laying of underground cable for which the JPDCL is answerable.
