BJP Questions Rahul's 'Secret' Visit, Congress Replies 'Gone For Niece's Graduation'

The Congress on Tuesday hit back at the BJP after the latter questioned Rahul Gandhi’s latest foreign trip, clarifying that the Leader of the Opposition is in London to attend his niece’s graduation ceremony and will return shortly.

The clarification came after BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malviya accused Gandhi of vanishing frequently without disclosure. “Rahul Gandhi was on a secret foreign holiday just last week. Now, he has flown abroad again to yet another undisclosed location,” Malviya posted on X.

“Why these frequent disappearances? What is so compelling that keeps him away from the country so often? As the Leader of the Opposition, he owes the people of India answers.”

‘BJP’s Dirty Tricks,’ Says Congress

Congress swiftly countered the narrative, dismissing the allegations as baseless. “The PMO is, as usual, up to its dirty tricks. It knows nothing else,” said Pawan Khera, head of Congress’s media and publicity department. “Shri Rahul Gandhi has gone to London to attend the graduation ceremony of his niece and will be back shortly,” he added in a post on X.

Amid social media chatter suggesting that Gandhi had flown to Bahrain, party sources clarified that the Congress MP travelled from New Delhi to London via Bahrain as part of a regular connecting flight. His niece, Miraya Vadra, daughter of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Robert Vadra, is graduating from a university in the UK.

This episode adds to a long-standing political back-and-forth over Gandhi’s foreign trips, with the BJP often questioning his absences and the Congress dismissing the criticism as petty and politically motivated.
