Gangster Chand Pehalwan, 3 aides arrested after encounter in Haryana’s Sonepat
Sonepat police’s crime unit on Tuesday apprehended notorious gangster Chand Pehalwan from Bidhal village, along with his three associates, following an encounter on National Highway 334B here.
Chand sustained a bullet injury to his leg during the encounter and was initially admitted to Sonepat Civil Hospital before being referred to Bhagat Phool Singh Medical College in Khanpur for further treatment.
The arrested associates have been identified as Nishant alias Kala from Bohar village in Rohtak district, Manish alias Monu from Bidhal village in Sonepat district, and Sachin alias Tinku from Kunjiya village in Jhajjar district. Police recovered five pistols — four of .315 bore and one of .32 bore — along with eight live cartridges and 470 grams of charas from the accused’s possession.
A reward of Rs 10,000 had been announced for Chand’s arrest. He is currently facing 18 criminal cases, including murder, attempt to murder, Arms Act, and other serious offences. He was declared a proclaimed offender by the court in 11 of these cases.
His associate Nishant alias Kala has six criminal cases registered against him, while Manish is named in three. Police are currently verifying the criminal background of the fourth accused, Sachin.
A case has been registered against all four, and further investigation is underway.
