Three Of A Family Burnt Alive After Getting Caught In Hanging Electric Wire In MP's Balaghat

Balaghat (Madhya Pradesh): Three members of a family were burnt alive on Tuesday after their bike came in contact with a live electric wire in Madhya Pradesh's Baaghat.

The incident happened because a loose, hanging electric wire, was hanging in the middle of the road and came in contact with the moving bike. The wire had likely come down due to rain and a fallen tree branch.

According to information, the incident took place in the forest area between Sarra and Nevarwahi villages in Lanji, Balaghat district.

The victims were Sevak Pache (30), his wife Renuka Pache (28), and his nephew Bhojraj Pache (28). All three were riding on a bike to visit a temple in Dewalgaon when the accident happened around 7 am.

As they passed through the Gulpur forest route, a tree branch had fallen on a high-voltage 11 kV wire, making the wire hang low.

Their bike likely touched the live wire, causing a fire. Sadly, all three died on the spot due to electric shock and burns.

After locals informed the police, the Lanji police team, electricity department officials, and local MLA Rajkumar Karrahe reached the spot. The police recovered the bodies and sent them for post-mortem.

Lanji police station in-charge Vibhendhu Tandia said further investigation is underway.

This case shows how loose or hanging electric wires can be very dangerous during the rainy season, especially when trees fall and wires get exposed.

It is important for authorities to fix such issues quickly to avoid more such incidents.
