Demolition drive in Wazirpur area sparks political row

A demolition drive was carried out in northwest Delhi’s Wazirpur area on Tuesday. The operation was conducted amid heavy police presence to maintain law and order, said an official.

According to a senior police official, over 100 personnel were deployed in the area to ensure the situation remained under control during the drive.

“We deployed more than 100 police personnel to ensure that there is no breach of law and order,” he said.

Reacting sharply to Tuesday’s action, AAP Delhi unit chief Saurabh Bharadwaj took to social media platform X to denounce the move. “Once again today, several bulldozers of the BJP government are demolishing the homes of the poor. The BJP government, which gave the slogan ‘jahan jhuggi wahan makan’ (where there are slums, there will be houses), should now answer where are their houses?” he said.
