Bhopal: Police Headquarters Brainstorms Promotion Policy

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): After state government took a decision to give promotions, the police headquarters is brainstorming to implement the order as large numbers of promotions are due in the police department.

At present, 1.6 lakh police personnel are working in the department. The promotions will be given on 26,367 posts.

The PHQ officials will follow the formula to be adopted by other departments. The chief secretary will hold a meeting with departments at Vallabh Bhavan on June 26.

According to DIG, administration, Satyendra Kumar Shukla, at present thousands of police officers are working as incharge on the post of DSP, inspector, SI, ASI and head constables.

With promotion policy 2025 in place, the department is working on the parameters contained in the policy. In the state, 410 posts of DSP rank are reserved for promotion.

On these posts, inspectors are promoted as DSPs. At present, 297 posts have been filled through incharge officials. Now, 113 posts are vacant for promotion.

Similarly, 1,657 posts of inspector are with the department and on most posts, incharge inspectors are working. The department has 70 to 80 posts vacant for promotions.

About 2,800 posts are reserved for sub inspectors, 8,100 posts are reserved for ASI and 13,400 posts of head constables are due for promotion.
